Raheems Kulcha Nahari

Lines raising the curtain
Raheems Since 1890

Among these stories, none is more savoury than that of its cuisine, a tapestry woven with spices, love, and legacy. Every tale whispers of a refined hospitality that feels like poetry, and of dishes so rich they seem fit only for kings. This is not a writer’s embellishment—it is history itself, lovingly inherited and devoutly preserved by those who refuse to let the flame of their ancestors’ hearths die out.

And in one dusky corner of Chowk, where the lanes are narrow but the flavors are infinite, stands a name spoken with reverence: Raheem’s Kulcha-Nahari. Born in the days when Awadh’s grandeur had not yet dimmed, this humble eatery has become a culinary shrine. The recipe, untouched by time, is a sacred heirloom—slow-cooked with secrets whispered from father to son, each morsel a memory of a bygone era.

Established in the year 1890, Raheem’s Kulcha-Nahari is not merely a restaurant—it is a living chapter of Lucknow’s culinary epic. Over the decades, this hallowed name has garnered countless accolades, honours, and the reverence of food connoisseurs from near and far. From local patrons to global gourmet channels, recognition has poured in like nazar-e-khaas offered to a royal feast, affirming what generations of Lucknowites have always known—that Raheem’s is not just a taste, but a tradition.

Why name Raheem when established by HAji abdul ghani

Haji Abdul Raheem was the son of Haji Abdul Ghani and he was the beloved son of his father. Haji Raheem was also known for his Hakeemi Nuskhe (medical formulas) and dedication towards cooking. His father decided to name the hotel after his son’s name. He later took the name to new heights by following his father’s footsteps and invented “Kulcha” and adopted the Afghan bread cooking style, which is known as “Baqarkhani Naan”, as Haji Abdul Raheem was the first Indian chef to introduced the Baqarkhani Naan in India. Abdul Raheem also discovered “Gooda Nahari and “Paaya Nahari” in the same era, which were his own master pieces.
